RE with Soul supports Secondary schools in exploring Global Citizenship exchanges.
In the Christian community global citizenship exchanges can be interpreted as overseas mission.
Mission is understood by ALMA, the Diocese of London’s overseas companion, as learning about the experience and context of our global neighbours, enabling those who encounter each other to be a resource to each other. This takes place through learning from the distinctive gift that comes from the different geographies, histories, economic priorities and social values of the countries involved and their communities.
For example in 2009, Twyford Church of England High school initiated a partnership with the Primary and Secondary schools of Maciene, Mozambique, linked with the Global Citizenship curriculum. A series of exchange visits followed and inspired the RE with Soul KS3 classroom resources for use for students in years 7-9 in their RE lessons, Tutor time and PSHCE.
