RE theme days offer a perfect opportunity for Primary Schools to consolidate and extend RE with Soul’s learning processes through, working in partnership with pupils, staff, parents and church members on creating artwork or project to enrich and celebrate the Companion Link.
These theme days can be planned to fit best in the school year and timetable and can be planned both as an RE initiative as well as for ethos enrichment, for example linked to SIAMS and Global Neighbours.
Consider jointly planning an RE theme day with your local church that includes their Companion Link or overseas partnerships. Explore opportunities there might be to create artwork with members of the local church for the local or overseas Companion Link community enabling your pupils, staff and parents to participate in these live relationships. This adds depth, purpose and meaning to the overall learning process and experience of RE, helping them gain further insight into the impact of beliefs, on relationships as well as inspiring social action.
