In the first of the KS3 ALMA: RE with Soul units, students think about why they go to school and what the incentives and dis-incentives are for going. They then think about the same questions from the perspective of a Mozambican counterpart.
Amrit Mahli was part of the first group of Twyford students to visit Maciene school. Maciene is a village school, built by the Anglican Church in Mozambique. At the point of independence, the school was taken over by the new government. She is surprised when she then sees the Marxist government sponsored school, which challenges her stereotypes of Mozambican life.
