Reflection 1 – Who is my neighbour?

Who is my neighbour? Meeting my neighbour

UK and Mozambican students enjoy discovering each other as neighbours

These Citizenship-based series of reflections for KS3 students are designed for use within RE, Citizenship and PSHCE. The focus is on understanding an overseas school community, in this case, of Maciene School in Mozambique. Students discover more of the life and experience of Mozambican students as they seek answers to the question, ‘ Who is my neighbour? ‘ to develop their understanding.

This is done by exploring the context of Mozambique as a country through use of National Anthems as well as the experiences of English students visiting Maciene School.

Students gain a greater knowledge of what it means to be a student in Maciene School through comparing and contrasting their experiences of school in England.

  • Reflection 1 – What is school like in Mozambique?
  • Reflection 2 – What does a national anthem say about a country?
  • Reflection 3 – What are the concerns of my neighbour?
